Story: THE LAST WEDDING Episode 5

Chidera was the girl carried by the slaughters. They covered her mouth, tightened her hands and legs for her not to shout or struggle to escape. She was a girl of simplicity who doesn't like problems. She had dimples on her cheek which become visible when she smiles. They carried her into the slaughtering room, laid her on the table and tied her down.

Due to lack of electricity, the room was dim making some hanging human parts visible. When Chidera saw most of them, she shouted but her voice wasn't heard because of the fabric covering her mouth. She watched two male slaughters wearing hand-gloves and bringing out sharp knives while Cynthia and Bernard watched them from the door. Chidera's breathing rate became faster, the movement of her chest and stomach could tell how fast it was. Heat of untimely death began to produce sweat on her innocent face.

She watched the two men stabbed her with the knives until she took her last breath. Blood splashed, and immediately, light came back.
Seeing that, Bernard and Cynthia looked at each other. She knew that his mind has beginning to change about what they were doing but never showed concern about that, rather she said to him, "Bernard, go help them slaughter the body"

He didn't make a move neither did he say anything. He placed a hand in his pocket watching as the other two slaughters undress dead Chidera to full nakedness.
"Bernard!" Cynthia called on him. "I said go help them!"
He began to move, collected his gloves then joined them.
"This is our last work for tonight. We shall continue tomorrow" Cynthia announced then walked out of the room.

Ubiji had to call his friend, Nelson, that night. He told him to please, go to the residence of Mr Desmond, he wanted to speak with him.
Nelson dressed up at that late hour of the night. He knocked on the gate severally before Aminu opened.
"Kai, na who I dey find?"
"I want to see your oga. Tell him that Ubiji sent me to him"
"Why?"
"It's about Chisom, his daughter"
"Okay, make I wait here fah"
Aminu went into the house to deliver the message but Mr Desmond requested to see Nelson who came inside the compound after that. He dialed Ubiji's number in his presence. The wife was also standing beside him.

"Hello sir," Ubiji sounded on the phone.
"Yes? What is it?" Mr Desmond's face wasn't funny.
"I am in Enugu, presently at Las Vegas but there is no trace of your daughter, Chisom, neither is there any wedding ceremony taking place here tomorrow. This is a sign of what I just warned you about"
"You must be joking!" He hung up the call and dialed Chisom's number immediately. Already, the wife had beginning to feel the gravity of the situation coz the call was on loud speaker.

Chisom's number proved to be switched off when Mr Desmond called it severally then he called Ubiji with his personal number.
"Young man, her number is not going through. Do not bother yourself because she deserve it if actually she's in trouble" he hung up the call. As he tried to enter into the house, the wife tackled him by holding his caftan. "What do you mean? Please, do something about our only child. You can't just keep quiet"
He never gave ear to her plead rather finally walked into the building with the wife holding the caftan.
Nelson also went home.

THE NEXT DAY

Ubiji woke up from Las.Vegas where he paid and spent the night with the little money he had. He knew that another night won't be spent on a hotel room coz there was no money for that, otherwise he'll permanently remain in Enugu for what he had left in his wallet was his transport fare back to Anambra. He searched all the whole areas to know if there was a wedding ceremony going on somewhere. He saw a place but at the end of the day, Chisom was nowhere to be found there. The sun and a drizzling rain bit him every minutes of the day but he never gave up.

Meanwhile, the remaining girls on detention walked round the room quietly. They didn't have a good sleep neither did they have food for the day, though they weren't hungry. Chisom faced the wall, Kate sat on the floor with her back rested on the wall too, Loveth sat on the edge of the bed while Amarachi stood still with hands on her waist.

"Who knows what they have done to Chidera? Who knows what gonna befall us too?" Amarachi broke the silence. Just then, the door of the room opened and all the girls turned to see Cynthia dropping a tray of rice on a nearby table while two huge men stood at the door. On the rice were fried human meats.

"I heard what you said" Cynthia began. "Before knowing what we did with your friend, Chidera, eat something and eat her meat"
"What?" Kate stood up angrily. "You mean you've killed Chidera and used her body for meat?"
Cynthia laughed. "One of you should also get prepared soon" she began to walk out of the room.
"You bastard!" Kate shouted while Chisom began to vomit. Other girls shouted for help trying to run out but the huge men pushed them back.

"Even if you shout from now till tomorrow, nobody gonna hear you" Cynthia concluded with smiles and locked the door.
Chisom started crying after vomiting likewise others. Nobody touched the food knowing very well that there were not only going to die but also the food was prepared with the body of their friend as meat. Suddenly, Amarachi walked up to Chisom and slapped her.
"Why did you slap me?"
"Coz you are the cause of all this!"
Without waisting time, Chisom returned the slap, a thunderous one. "You are stup!d to say that!" she said.

They wanted to go into a physical combat but Kate came to separate them while Loveth sat on the bed crying.
"What's wrong with both of you!" Kate shrieked.
"Chisom is the one that set us up! she's the one who brought the issue of this wedding at the first place" Amarachi replied.

"How would I had known that we were set up? Abigail is my.." Chisom wanted to back fire but was interrupted by the voice of Loveth who said staring at the wall, "Abigail doesn't exist, if she did, know that she has been here and killed too. That's how they got her contact, used it to get us too" she stood up looking at the quiet girls.

"Do you girls remember what happened on our way here?" she asked rhetorically. "The venue of the wedding initially was Las Vegas but on our way to Enugu, the so called Abigail called us on the phone and changed it to this horrible place. And no doubt these people slaughter human beings coz I smelt it on Bernard's body yesterday. When I asked him if he was slaughtering an animal, he never responded. We are doomed" she concluded. All she said made sense to the girls and was the pure truth of the situation. Bright, the manager of the place heard her from the control room then admired her intelligence.

Kate turned to Chisom and Amarachi, "Now, you can see that it's nobody's fault. We were set up and the only thing we can do now is stick together and look for a way out of here" she encouraged them. The girls turned the bed upside down, checked the walls of the room, even the roof but there was no escaping exit.

"The floor sounds like there is another room underground" Chisom noticed it.
Kate tapped her feet hardly on the floor. "Its true" she confirmed.
"All we need is to dig" Amarachi suggested.
"Dig with what tools?" Loveth queried then all stared at one another.

6:30 post meridian was the time at the unknown place, yet, the girls never figured a way out. Mr Desmond had also flew down to Enugu to report to the police. He had the residential address of Abigail where he went with a group of policemen but discovered that the very lady had died and disappeared not too long ago. (Killed by the slaughters). Everything became clear to everyone that Chisom and her friends had been kidnapped. Mr Desmond flew back to Anambra while the police took up the case .

However, at the unknown place, the light went off once more which indicated that another person has to be slaughtered. Just as the girls rested in the deadly sanctum, the door opened and Amarachi was carried out to be slaughtered.
"Leave me alone! somebody help me!" she kept shouting until her voice became mute: they tied her mouth with a fabric while her hands and legs were also tied on the table in the slaughtering room. Due to darkness never fully taken over the atmosphere, Amarachi saw human body parts especially the head of Chidera hanging beside her.

She screamed under the fabric in her mouth. Her heartbeat increased along with her blood pressure which activated the sweat glands. Cynthia and Bernard watched on how the poor girl will be stabbed to death but when the two male slaughters wanted to do it, she said, "Stop!"
Bernard looked at her to know her reasons. He was a bit happy thinking that maybe she had changed her mind not to slaughter the girl again. He knew that's impossible because anybody who enters the slaughtering room doesn't come out alive.

"Why stopping us?" one of the men asked Cynthia.
"Bernard will be the one to kill her" she replied.
"Why me?" Bernard queried immediately.
"No questions, just do it, and you have not less than sixty seconds"

Bernard gradually moved to Amarachi, looked at her face to see tears coming out from her eyes. He put on his gloves, took a knife and raised it up to stab her but his hands quivered. "I can't do it" He dropped the knife. To his greatest surprise, Bright walked inside the room. He wore a black suit and shoes. He had beards covered all over his jaw. He was six fit tall and huge in weight with a big stomach. He was totally black in complexion.

"Bernard, I give you ten seconds to kill that girl otherwise she will be freed and take over your responsibility while you become the next meat in the cooking pot" he said authoritatively then began to count down from ten, nine, eight..
Bernard raised the knife again, looked at the poor girl who begged him with a pleading face and homing voice, just before the last count, he stabbed Amarachi to death. Blood splashed and light came back..

Story: THE LAST WEDDING Episode 6

Blood splashed on Bernards cloth after stabbing Amarachi to death in the slaughtering room. Though he had no intention of doing it but he also had no choice otherwise become the next meat in the cooking pot just like he was told by his boss, Bright. He looked at him and Cynthia at the entrance of the room in a way that shows: I HAVE DONE WHAT YOU REQUESTED FOR.

"Good" Bright commended with hands in his pocket. He watched the other two male Slaughters naked dead Amarachi and began to slaughter her body parts by first widely by-setting her into two. Bernard didn't need to be reminded to join them. He handled the breast of the young girl, cut them off and wrapped them for sale.

As he did all that, he kept thinking on how to save Loveth, the one he loves. He contemplated on going into the detention room or open the door for them to run, but where actually will they run to in the presence of cameras and locked gate? To make the issue worst, Bright said aloud in the room which attracted all their attentions, "From today henceforth, Bernard is restricted from entering into the detection room or seen around the door of the room.

Secondly, I have employed armed men and given them their duty posts because security here should be tight" he concluded then walked out of the room.
"This man is a devil!" Bright thought.

"Please, hurry up, we have more work to do tonight" Cynthia reminded them then walked out too.
Bernard's mind flew out of his chest when he heard that coz he believed the next girl in line to be slaughtered might be Loveth, the one he accidentally loves.

He couldn't bear to think of it, therefore he walked out of the room to the exterior part of the building where he saw armed security men standing at the gate, pools, by the fence of the building, even at the door of the detention room. They knew what was happening there especially the secret of the place. They all had wireless transmitter connected on their ears for easy communication with Bright.

Seeing all that, it became so difficult for Bernard to think of how to save the girl he loves. He became devastated, confused and perplexed. He checked his time to know if the moment of opening the gate had drew near. He averted his eyes from the wristwatch, turned and walked back into the building to the direction of Cynthia's room. He saw the security men on his way but didn't talk to any of them.
Cynthia was undressing when she heard a knock on the door then turned half naked.

"Who's that?"
"Bernard" he opened immediately to see her on pant and bra alone. He showed a remuse but stood still like a man coz he believed that the reason why he came was more important than the nakedness of a woman. Though, Cynthia, on the other hand didn't show concern coz she understood that for him to come into her room must be for a tangible reason, she stared at him to let the cat out of the bag.
"I need a favour from you" he began.

"For all my life, I have hidden my heart to love my fellow human beings talk-less of a girl. But now I see myself swimming in the ocean of love with a girl but at the same time sad because I know the very girl gonna be killed by me"
"Of whom do you speak of?" Cynthia asked.
"I speak of Loveth, one of the remaining three girls in the detention room. Please, grant me this favour and release her to go"
"What you are requesting for is impossible" she turned her back on him then took off her bra. "You should know that no one who is detained here for slaughter goes out alive" she added then tied a towel.

"I know all this, that's why I came to you" Bernard pleaded.
"What you are asking for is not possible young man. Please, leave, I wonna take my bath" she walked into the bathroom while Bernard left the room.

Darkness became the nature of the weather once more. The gate of the unknown place opened and politicians arrived as usual with prostitutes to eat, drink and buy human parts.
Ubiji on the other hand, looked exhausted that night, he planned to sleep at any place and go back to Anambra the following day. He wore a Jean trouser over a blue t-shirt, his stomach was as flat as a rezor blade due to hunger.

He sluggishly walked along the road looking for where to eat something, fortunately for him, he bumped on the unknown place where he looked through the opened gate to see people eating, dancing and having fun. He became interested then gradually entered, greeted the huge gateman but received reply. He observed the compound to be bigger than he expected, even the structures found in it. "How I wish I will see Chisom here" he thought believing that he would find the girl because the place was a happening place. Immediately he entered into the restaurant, a female waiter approached him.

"What can I offer you, sir?"
"Offer me what you have"
"We have all kinds of soup with meat, even rice of different preparation"
"Let me have rice" Ubiji concluded and sat down. As he waited for his order, Bernard came out from the slaughtering room and sat down at a very lonely place where he monitored people and waiting for when the light will go off for someone to be slaughtered.

He couldn't take his mind off from Loveth. Ubiji's eyes met with his severally even when his food arrived. He observed his restless attitude and lost of thought then wondered what his problems could be even if he knew that it's none of his business. Bernard stood up from the place and walked pass him to the exterior part of the building. Within some seconds, he returned.

Ubiji called on him.
"Excuse me sir"
Bernard looked at him before answering him as an afterthought. "Any problem?"
"Do you work here?"
"Yes, but not in this department. The waiters here will attend to you" Bernard tried to leave but was interrupted by Ubiji.
"I guess you are in my shoe"

Bernard stared at him strangely. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"You behave like someone who wants to save someone's life but doesn't know how to do it" Ubiji paused then continued after Bernard adjusted closer to him coz he found what he said to be true. "My name is Ubiji from Anambra. I came in search of a girl whom i know is in trouble coz God revealed that to me. She's actually gonna be slaughtered like an animal according to the revelation. She came here for a wedding ceremony which doesn't exist and.."

"What's her name?" Bernard interrupted immediately.
"Chisom" Ubiji stopped eating when he read his face. "Do you know her?"
"Did she come with other girls?"
"I guess so but don't know how many they are"
"Can you describe her?"

Ubiji described the perfect appearance of Chrisom whom Bernard noticed that was in the detention room with Kate and Loveth. He looked around suspiciously to many eyes on him, even cameras and security men, so he left without a reply.
That got Ubiji worried. He didn't go after him but settled down on his seat eating the remaining food, but his heart kept telling him that Bernard knew about the very girl he talked about.

After eating and clearing the table, he stood up to Bernard who leaned on a wall tapping his foot.
"You never replied me before leaving"
"I don't know the girl"
"But you behaved as if you know.."
"I said I don't" Bernard interrupted.

"Okay" Ubiji turned to leave but he called and met him. He wanted to tell him the truth but didn't know how to do that. "What's it?" Ubiji added.
"You need to save them" Bernard said vibrating coz he knew the consequences of what he was about to say or do. Just as he wanted to proceed, Bright came out.
"Who's this man?" he asked Bernard.

"He's the plumber I called" he replied facing his boss courageously avoiding quivering of legs or hands but he couldn't stop it totally and Ubiji observed it from his trouser.
"A plumber?" Bright queried.
"Yes, sir. Can you imaging that a large pip got broken underground which had been causing leakage and shortage of water?"
"You should have told me" he looked at Ubiji from head to toe. "But where is his tools?"
"Umm.. sir, he's a close friend of mine, I told him not to come with tools since we have all the tools needed"

"I see, he should hurry up with that" Bright replied as an afterthought then drove out of the compound with two body guards.
There was a sign of relief on the face of Bernard after the devil left. He turned to Ubiji and said, "Follow me now!"
He did as he said without thinking twice. Both moved outside at the power house where Bernard opened a metal covering an entrance to the underground house. It was a large metal tunnel. That wasn't the main entrance of the underground, the main entrance was inside the building but he didn't want to take him through there to avoid leaking some secrets or encountering the presence of Cynthia.

When both entered into the tunnel, Ubiji asked, "What was the drama all about?"
"It was to save your life, my life and the lives of your friends" Bernard replied as both hurried into the innermost part of the tunnel. They were also light on top of it which illuminated the place.
"Are you saying that you know Chisom?"
"Yes, they were five that came but only three remain. Two has been slaughtered"
"What?!" Ubiji stopped.

"Come on, no time!" Bernard told him some part of their secrets then Ubiji became amazed!
They got to a place where different types of tools could be found; digger, large electric screw, etc. Bernard picked up the two tools and handed them to Ubiji.
"What am I gonna do with these?"
"Stop asking stup!d questions and follow me, let's locate the room they are"
They were able to locate the room then looked up.

"This is the room" Bernard began. "Start digging gently until you crack it open and rescue them. When you do, you guys should run following this direction" he pointed at a part of the tunnel that leads out of the compound. "Start now!" he rushed out.
As Ubiji dug as he was instructed, Chisom began to cry in the room. How would she had known that the person he rejected was on the same roof looking for a way to save her life? As she cried, Kate met her with tears in her eyes too.

"It's a pity that we all gonna die like this" Kate said.
"How I wish I can see Ubiji before I die" Chisom began. "I wish I can apologize to him. How I wish I listened to him. God!" she poured out tears while Kate embraced her crying too.
"No man should be underrated due to his present situation or for who he is" Loveth said from the bed where she sat shedding tears too. "How I wish we listened to that young man? May God forgive us"
Suddenly, light went off, the girls stood up in the dark waiting for the next thing that gonna happen.

Just as they expected, Loveth was carried, tied down on the slaughtering table in the slaughtering room with her mouth covered. Cynthia wasn't there. Only the two male slaughters were available preparing to stab the girl to death. Just as they raised their knives, Bernard rushed in and said, "Wait!"
They looked at him as he walked towards the control switch and put on the light.
"What's the matter?" one of the men asked him.

"Cynthia needs you both in the control room. It's urgent" he replied then looked at Loveth who had began to sweat struggling her whole body. The human heads she saw nearly drove her to the land of the dead even before she was killed. "I will take over from here" Bernard put off the light again and began to kwear his gloves. When the two slaughters left, he quickly untied Loveth and both took another door that led to the main entrance of the underground.

On the other hands, Ubiji had succeeded in breaking the floor open. Chisom and Kate noticed it then adjusted away from the particular place holding each other tightly. They couldn't see anybody due to there was no light.

"Chisom" Ubiji called from the opening.
Chisom disengaged from Kate immediately when she heard the familiar voice. "Ubiji?"
"Yes, its me, come, follow here!"
"Oh my God!" Kate exclaimed. She was the first to climb down to the underground before Chisom.
However, the two slaughters had gone to Cynthia, they discovered that she never summoned them, then all hurried to the slaughtering room but found it deserted. Cynthia briskly walked to the control switch and put it on. "Security!!!!" She exclaimed....
